Carolyn Edis

Artist Biography

Arts and crafts have been a part of Carolyn Edis’s life for a long time. She’s taken courses in ceramics, pottery on the wheel, mosaics, and has done a great deal of sewing. But until she moved to Cambria, she had never had a drawing or painting class. After being here for a couple of years, she noticed an ad telling of a beginning watercolor class right here in Cambria offered by the Emeritus program through Cuesta College. That was her start!

The classes were cancelled after two years due to the cuts in the state budget. However, a number of the class members wanted to continue to paint together, so they continued on at the Old Grammar School. The group still meets once a week to paint and have.

“It’s surprising how much you can learn from each other. I've also had a great deal of help and encouragement from many of the artists here in Cambria,” says Edis
